UKOOA Flexible hose management guideline

Problem statement
Many incidents;  Safety, spillage and environmental issues related to management or lack of management of Flexible Hoses, both supplier owned, rental and operator owned equipment. There is no reference to a Flexible Hose Management Guideline in Norwegian regulations or NORSOK standards

Recommendation
OLF’s OTF-D Work group consisting of members from Shell, Hydro, ENI and ConocoPhillips has evaluated UKOOA ‘Flexible Hose Management Guidelines’. The Work group recommends that the guideline should be used for offshore installations on the Norwegian Continental shelf.

The purpose of these guidelines is to provide operators of offshore installations, drilling facilities and onshore plants with a reference framework of management, technical controls and procedures necessary to ensure the continued integrity of Flexible Hose Assemblies throughout their lifecycle.

The recommendation is supported by DMF – Drilling Managers Forum:

OLF members should actively promote usage of the guideline to prevent or reduce number of spills and safety incidents.
