Editorial: Time to make wise choices“Through 40 years of petroleum activity, our politicians have made wise choices that have made Norway into the world’s best country to live in. Over the next two years political decisions will be made that will set the course for Norway’s future as an energy nation. These decisions must be made on the basis of facts and a willingness to invest in the future.
Editorial: Improving helicopter safety”To transport people to work on offshore installations, a helicopter is the only realistic means of transport. The petroleum activity helicopters carry about 750,000 passengers every year. The industry has made it quite clear that the risk to our employees must be reduced as much as is practically possible – whether they are at work, or on their way to or from their offshore jobs.
Editorial: The big pictureThe huge participation at this year’s ONS and people’s interest in it, are evidence of a strong and vibrant petroleum industry. One rarely finds so much know-how and experience concentrated in such a small space as during this August week in Stavanger. ONS is thus a key venue for dialogue between the industry, the academics and the politicians. In the years to come, dialogue and factual information will be more important than ever before.
